JOB DETAILS:

Danville Services of Utah, LLC is now hiring for Full and Part-Time Direct Support Staf f positions working in residential homes located in Salt Lake and Davis counties with people who have developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities :

  • Respect the cultural diversity of each person and support him/her in celebrating that diversity
  • Learn and use the best communication methods for each person, i.e., sign language, symbols, mannerisms, verbalizations, reactions, etc.
  • Support each person in increasing his or her independence
  • Follow program as outlined in each person's ISP and accurately document progress.
  • Allow time, space, and opportunity for privacy and ensure privacy during all activities
  • Offer a variety of activities that will help to stimulate and build new and rewarding interests.
  • Support individuals in learning skills that may help them gain employment.
  • Accompany individuals to medical appointments
  • Support each person to access their environment and utilizing all assistive devices.
  • Encourage individuals to make independent decisions
  • Follow through with scheduled activities and document participation
  • Support the individuals by assisting them in monthly training on evacuation/fire/earthquake drills and document the level of support he or she needed.
  • Support each person in learning and practicing proper safety procedures
  • Use correct lifting and transferring protocols at all times
  • Fill out the vehicle maintenance form and report any problems with the company

  • Keep the facility clean, neat, and in good repair. Keep all exits clear. Complete
  • Safety Checklist quarterly as assigned.
  • Fill out a property damage report and list repairs to the supervisor. Support individuals by identifying safety issues and what kind of safety risks may be a concern.
  • Support each person to understand and follow dietary guidelines if established by dietitian or physician.
  • Supervise, train, support, or perform, if necessary, hygiene as needed for each person.
  • Be aware that some individuals need specialized supports in:

- Bathing, showering, shampooing

- Dental hygiene

- Ear hygiene

- Trimming fingernails and toenails

- Menses care

- Toileting needs

  • Follow all prescribed therapies
  • Ensure that all adaptive equipment is kept clean and in good repair
  • Observe and report all medical information in each person's Medical Management Book

Requirements :

  • Attend all training that is required by Danville including Module training, onsite training, and demonstrate competency.
  • Read and sign Code of Conduct annually
  • Attend training concerning emergency procedures
  • Read posted materials on all chemical hazards and follow precautions
  • Attend safety training
  • If in a position that requires driving, have a current and valid Utah driver's license, good driving record, and insurance if using own car, and complete the Defensive Driving Course. Complete the Driving Test - Coaching the Driver II. Follow all safety guidelines and policies for transporting individuals.
  • Become medication certified
  • Obtain food handlers and TB test within the first two weeks of employment
  • Become certified in CPR and First Aid within 90 days, and keep certifications current.
  • Attend Blood borne Pathogens training
  • Attend training regarding disabilities and diagnosis for each person

Work Ethics :

  • Maintain good attendance record including punctuality and leave request procedures.
  • Fill out time sheets accurately and legibly and submit them on time with all mileage documentation and/or leave slips if applicable.
  • Follow Danville 's Ethic's and Morale Policy.
  • Promote good working relationships.
  • Complete all duties and required documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, neat appearance, with appropriate attire for accompanying individuals in various activities, i.e., work site, concert, enclave, etc.
  • Be honest and trustworthy.
  • Know and support Danville 's Mission Statement.
  • Seek assistance from supervisor with work related problems. Ask for additional training when needed.
  • Model appropriate behavior and dress.
  • Be an active participant in staff meetings and training.
  • Welcome and assist new employees as they learn their job skills.
